As we reflect on 2024, it’s clear that the year has been fraught with challenges and humanitarian crises. Amid ongoing wars, rising poverty, and soaring unemployment, the need for assistance and economic empowerment has never been greater. During these trying times, the role of Waqf Shares emerges as a beacon of hope—a sustainable charitable investment that goes beyond mere temporary aid. Waqf Shares projects are investments in a brighter future, inspiring hope and making a real difference in the lives of individuals and communities.
In 2024, The International Waqf Fund successfully launched numerous projects across 10 countries, using nearly £400,000 generated from Waqf Shares investments.

Our Reach in 2024:
Countries: Bangladesh, Mali, Niger, Somalia, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Albania, United Kingdom
Ongoing Relief Efforts in Gaza
Despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza, our humanitarian efforts persist.
Through our parent organisation, Islamic Relief, we implemented emergency food and healthcare projects amounting to £29,304.
Additionally, we continued to support orphans in Gaza with £1,000 to ensure a dignified life for two children in a setting that lacks basic safety.
Empowering Orphans and Their Families
The returns of our Orphan Waqf Shares also funded the sponsorship of orphans in Niger, amounting to £610.
To ensure that 550 vulnerable orphaned children in Somalia gain improved access to education and living standards, we renovated 38 classrooms and provided essential resources for three primary schools (Abi-Bakar, Al-Faruq, and Aisha Secondary Schools) with a budget
of £59,300.
This includes improving sanitation facilities and enhancing the overall learning environment.
Improving Livelihoods for Vulnerable Families in Afghanistan
Our £50,000 investment in Afghanistan focuses on reaching 100 of the most vulnerable households in Bamiyan Province.
This initiative aims at providing livelihood and business development support, alongside skill development training tailored to their circumstances.
In Albania, we initiated the Greenhouse Project, where 11 greenhouses were provided to households.
Families received necessary training, seeds, irrigation systems, and tools to support sustainable agricultural practices with total funding of £50,000.
Furthermore, our project, WISE-II, empowered 115 marginalized women in Pakistan, providing grants for small-scale businesses and training in skills such as sewing, embroidery, and digital marketing, enabling them to become successful entrepreneurs with a total funding
of £50,000.
Ramadan Food Packs
During Ramadan 2024, we distributed food packs valued at £8,000, with 216 parcels reaching families in Bangladesh and 165 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During Eid al-Adha, a time when the less fortunate anticipate the addition of meat to their tables, we successfully carried out 140 Qurbani sacrifices in Mali and 40 in Bangladesh, distributing the meat to thousands of families and bringing smiles back to tired faces.
The Qurbani is not merely meat offered; it is a message of solidarity with those who have faced hardships in life.
Health Share Funding Maternity Center in Mali
Your contributions to the Health Share funded a maternity center project in Mali, valued at £50,000.
This initiative combined improving healthcare services with achieving sustainability, featuring a solar-powered maternity center that serves over 1,500 individuals.
Supporting Education and Access to Safe Water in Iraq
In Iraq, we addressed pressing infrastructure issues affecting the University of Halabja, allocating £50,000 for a project to enhance access to safe drinking water, thereby enhancing the educational environment.
To ensure that 550 orphaned children have better educational opportunities and improved living standards, we renovated 38 classrooms and 3 offices in one primary school and two secondary schools, creating a safe learning environment.
The project also funds the rehabilitation of restrooms, kitchens, water tanks, and sanitation facilities, along with providing chairs for the schools.
Community Development in the UK
In the United Kingdom, £30,000 was allocated for the acquisition of a minibus for Green Lane Mosque. This vehicle will facilitate community access to services and support various youth and elder activities, enhancing community engagement and outreach.
