ABOUT US

As part of the exciting changes and to reflect our new vision, we have now changed our name from Islamic Relief Waqf to the International Waqf Fund.

However, changing our name will not affect our terms and conditions for our past donors. We continue to operate the charity as usual with our parent organisation is Islamic Relief Worldwide, based in Birmingham.

The funds raised from our generous donors are currently being invested in Sharia-compliant investments and the returns are utilised to implement charity projects across the globe. We have raised more than £7 million and we receive an annual average return of 7%. In 2019 we implemented projects in sectors such as health and sustainable livelihoods and disaster prevention projects.

Who we are?

Recognising the need for sustainable charity,
International Waqf Fund began offering Waqf as a way to donate in 2000 under our previous name Islamic Relief Waqf.

By investing your donation in our Shariah compliant shares, your gift to charity can keep on giving, people will continue to benefit year after year, and you can achieve ongoing and never-ending blessings.

Already, thousands of people in over 25 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Caribbean have benefitted from our projects using the returns and profits from the investments. From building and installing clean water services for the people of Sudan, to supporting the people of Bosnia with sustainable livelihood projects, we focus on achieving real change through an integrated approach in order to deliver long-lasting results.

Another benefit to investing in Waqf is that part of the annual returns is kept into an Emergency and Disaster pot, which can be used immediately as and when needed.

A new type of Waqf

International Waqf Fund will now venture into investment and trade in Sharia compliant businesses across the globe, to directly benefit the people of those countries in different ways, from reducing unemployment to minimising the costs of education and medical care.

We have a number of potential and exciting ideas for the future. One is building a general hospital, to be able to provide reduced and subsidised medical care.

Another potential investment project is to build a language centre in Sarajevo, Bosnia to teach English and Arabic, with similar aims – to provide subsidised costs towards education and also to enable this project to keep giving indefinitely.

The Social investment page on the site will be regularly updated as and when the investment feasibility studies are completed.

Investments will consider sharia compliance, risk appetite, potential profits and most importantly the positive impact the investment will have on our beneficiaries. The aim is to have people leading healthier lives, Education for all and a sustainable income.

International Waqf Investment is planting the seed of this type of initiative and wants to lead the Waqf sector and become one of the largest organisations in this sector with the support of its donors.

International Waqf Fund has formed an Investment Committee to oversee all investments, they bring an extensive range of investment and programme knowledge and experience to make sound decisions

This initiative will not only bring positive long-lasting impact on people’s lives but will bring in a new understanding of how to deliver and utilise generous donations.

International Waqf Fund will also fund vital charity projects using parts of the profits similar to what we do with the profits from property investments.

Your donation keeps on giving. Your donation has infinite Good.
