International Women’s Day is dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Therefore, Whilst also highlighting and calling towards improving gender equality. For example, In 2022, we are still fighting to empower women and girls to use their voices.

That is to say, at the International Waqf Fund, we have proudly supported many women-focused sustainable livelihood projects. Supporting women to be able to stand on their own two feet through various skills training and microfinance loans.

Generating income through her new greenhouse, Nadia is now thriving…

For example, Meet Nadia :

she is a widowed mother living in rural Albania with her mother in law and her 2 orphaned children (ages 9 and 16).

Her income is not enough to cover basic monthly expenses to sustain her family’s needs. Food, water and electricity prices have all increased and finding work in Albania’s unstable economy is challenging.

Supporting 50 families in Albania with their very own greenhouse to help sustain their livelihoods.

Nadia and her family were one of 10 families to have benefitted from this project. She is now able to generate her income and improve her family’s living standards.

Helping Hana through a microfinance loan to sustain a better life…

So, Hana is a widow and a mother to two young daughters. Sadly, she lost her husband to the war and has been raising her children alone. Hana’s only income was from selling milk and milk products from her 5 cows.

On the other hand, today her main income is from agriculture.

For instance, Hana took a loan from our microfinance project to build a well on her land so she can provide water for her crops.

Above all, The well has been a much-needed addition to help her farm prosper and assist her income generation.

In short, Empowering Hana to better her living condition and sustain a healthy livelihood for her family.

That is to say,  This project is a continuation of donations invested in 2017, every year this microfinance fund is benefiting more women in need and empowers women to lift themselves out of poverty and build a sustainable future for themselves and their families.
