Since 2018, a total of 15.9 million people in Yemen have been identified as food insecure. There are currently over 3 million internally displaced people who are in dire need. Due to ongoing conflict, the economic crisis, and the Covid-19 pandemic, food prices have risen, whilst food production has reduced and water quality is continuing to decrease.

We, therefore, provided food assistance to 72 households in Aden, benefitting around 504 people. Each individual received food rations in six installments.
Each food basket contains:

• 50kg of white flour
• 10kg of rice
• 5kg of sugar
• 5kg of beans
• 4.6kg of oil

Meet Fawziah

Fawziah is a 60-years-old diabetic who lives in Yemen with her son, daughter-in-law, five grandsons, and her husband who is currently unwell. The family home was destroyed in the flash floods, leaving them with nothing. Fawziah and her family struggle on a daily basis to meet their basic needs. Moreover, the whole family is living in a single room without a bathroom or access to water.
Fawziah used to sell mangos. She currently has no source of income. Her grandsons travel long distances, up to 2 hours each time, to get water from old wells. The family share a bathroom with their neighbors and struggle to eat with their limited income.
