On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, while also calling for improved gender equality.
In 2023, in some regions of the world, women are still fighting to empower women and girls to use their voices. To further this mission, the International Waqf Fund has proudly supported women-focused sustainable livelihood projects.
These include providing 232 beneficiaries in Lebanon with essential livelihood assets, equipment and materials to help boost their productivity and continue securing a sustainable income.
Meet Maha, we supported her and many other female-headed households in Lebanon:
“Last year, the International Waqf registered my children, Tawfiq and Ali, in the orphan sponsorship project. I benefited from all the aid projects and Eid clothes, and my children were very happy. For a while, I participated in the Families Empowerment Project, and I hope to receive support so that my project becomes bigger and I rely on myself. My ambition and dream is to expand my project more and have a registered trademark and more customers, and thus increase my income, and I no longer need any help, rather I help others.” – Maha
Through our Waqf shares, we have been able to fund projects that empower and support women and orphan mothers. To support our work and help better the lives of women and girls, donate a Sustainable Livelihood Waqf share today.
Together, let us celebrate all our female beneficiaries this International Women’s Day.
