Situation: Mandera County has the highest incidents of poverty in the country, estimated at 64%. Some people’s income is less than £1 a day. The country is prone to cyclones and droughts.

Impact: Due to the economic struggle, and diminishing resources, conflict and insecurity is common and arising.

Response:  Under this project Islamic Relief Kenya proposes to support the community through distribution of galla goats to 250 households, training of local community on livestock based enterprises, and provision of beehives to 100 households.

On this project we have utilised £130,000 of Waqf share returns. With a population of 5000 households, this project will support approximately 1000 households.

1000 households have access to clean portable water and sanitation facilities for household and livestock use. With rehabilitation of a borehole, construction of 2 water kiosks and water construction and piping for one school.

500 pupils have access to quality education through school buildings. With two standard classrooms constructed, rehabilitation of 2 classrooms, 100 new desks, teachers refresher training, 100 dignity kits for girls and 3 enrolment drives.

The difference between IWF and other organisations is that IWF will invest your donations and bring a sustainable return year on year and serve people indefinitely.
